Dr. Liaw completed his orthodontic training at National Taiwan University Hospital in 1994 and received his master degree at Chang Gung University. He is now in private practice since 2002 after 8 years of visiting staff at Shin Kong Memorial Hospital. He keeps on part-time teaching at National Taiwan University. He served as the President of the Taiwan Association of Orthodontists in 2013 & 2014, and Chair of the Taiwan Board of Orthodontics in 2015 & 2016. Dr. Bouzid earned his doctorate of dental medecine from Constantine University in 2007 and completed his residency in orthodontics and obtained his master degree in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from Wuhan University, China. Dr. Vergara earned her Dental Degree from Universidad Metropolitana in Barranquilla and completed her Orthodontic training at C.I.E.O. University in Bogotá, Colombi. She is a Clinical Professor and coordinates the Orthodontic Research Department at Universidad de Cartagena, Colombia. Dr. Vergara pursued further studies in Orthodontics at Kanagawa Dental College, Japan, and is a Guest Professor at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, as well as other institutions across the Americas.

Dr. Wu holds a D.D.S. and Ph.D. from National Yang-Ming Chiao-Tung University. She is an adjunct assistant professor at the School of Dentistry in NYCU and serves as the chair of the Orthodontic section at Taipei Veterans General Hospital. She was a visiting scholar in Germeany in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Also, she is an active academia member in TAO and WIOC. Her field of interest includes orthodontics and pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Arango graduated and completed orthodontic training at UniCIEO University. Currently, she is an associate clinical professor in orthodontic department at UniCIEO University as well as an invited professor of orthodontics at CTOR University in New York. Dr. Sarver received his DMD from UAB and M.S. in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina in 1979. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He has been honored by the American Association of Orthodontists to present the Salzmann, Mershon, and Edward H. Angle lectures to the Annual meetings. He is co-author of the surgical text “Contemporary Treatment of Dentofacial Deformity”, and is co-author of Proffit’s classic textbook “Contemporary Orthodontics”. He recently published his text “Dentofacial Esthetics-From Macro to Micro”. He has published more than 80 scientific articles and 20 book chapters. He has given more than 400 professional presentations in the United States, Europe, Australia and the Middle and Far East and has been featured on several national television programs including the “The Today Show”. He was named recipient of the Blair Award from the AAOF in 2022 and a Legend in Orthodontics by the Southern Association of Orthodontists in 2023.

Dr. Ellouze earned his DDS from the Faculty of Monastir and completed his postgraduate certification in Orthodontics at the University of Bordeaux, France and has been post-graduated in Lingual Orthodontics at the University of Paris V. He contributes as a visiting professor in the master in lingual Orthodontics at the University Of Valencia and Oviedo (Spain), and is an associate Professor in the department of orthodontics at the University of Bordeaux 2. Dr Sandra Khong Tai is Clinical Assistant Professor in Orthodontics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, as well as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific, San Francisco, USA.  Dr Sandra Tai is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics. She has been an Invisalign certified orthodontist since 2000 and is currently an Invisalign Diamond Plus Provider who hastreated 4,500+ cases with clear aligners. Dr Tai is the author of the textbook "Clear Aligner Technique". (Quintessence Publishing 2018) which has been translated into 12 languages around the world. Dr. Ravindra Nanda is Professor Emeritus, Former UConn Alumni Endowed Chair and Head of the Department of Craniofacial Sciences and Division of Orthodontics, University of Connecticut, Farmington, Connecticut, U.S.A. He is also an Adjunct Professor at The Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, Ma, USA.

Dr. Nanda has been active in orthodontic research in the area of biomechanics, clinical trials and acceleration of orthodontic treatment. He has authored with his colleagues more than 250 scientific papers. He is Editor-in-Chief of Progress in Orthodontics and he is on the editorial board of ten different national and international orthodontic journals. He is also an associate editor of Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.

 In 2022 he was awarded Fellow of World Federation of Orthodontics (WFO). Dr. Won Moon is the Founder/CEO of the Moon Principles Institute (“the MoonLab”) and a Co-founder/Chief Innovations Officer of BioTech Innovations. He served as the Thomas R. Bales Endowed Chair in Orthodontics for the orthodontic residency program at UCLA School of Dentistry (2013-2020), and he currently holds two academic positions: Full-Professorship at Ajou University School of Medicine, and Adjunct Professorship at the Forsyth Institute. He has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics since 2002. He completed his dental education at Harvard and orthodontic education at UCLA. His current focus has been establishing protocols for orthopedic corrections with MI, improving the airway for patients with nasal obstruction, creating virtual patients utilizing image analysis and FEM, and developing a novel Moon Aligner System.

His interest in aligner systems began in 2010 as the aligner systems became popular, but they had countless shortcomings and could not achieve optimal orthodontic results. He has won the Center Award Grant from the American Association of Orthodontic Foundation (AAOF) in 2018 as a Co-PI of the research project, “Standard Characterization of Clear Orthodontic Aligner”, and the goal of the project was to develop protocols that can be used to evaluate the mechanical properties of clear aligners. He was also invited as a keynote speaker for the Congress of the Spanish Society of Aligners (SEDA) and National Congress of Italian Aligner Society (SIALIGN) in 2021. He is currently involved in multiple aligner research projects in collaboration with national and international colleagues. He holds multiple patents, three of which are aligner related, and more patents are on the way. 

His interest in mid-facial expansion began in 2004 as micro-implant became available in the USA, and he is responsible for developing Maxillary Skeletal Expander (MSE), a unique micro-implant assisted rapid palatal expander (MARPE). He has been active in advocating non-surgical skeletal expansion in both children and adult patients, especially for those who may suffer from airway restrictions. His presentation in MSE has been widely accepted internationally, and numerous peer-reviewed publications are available.

Dr. Mompell completed his dental studies at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), completing his last year of training at the University of Coimbra in Portugal (UC). After these studies, he moved to Sao Paulo in Brazil, where he discovered his passion for orthodontics by completing various training courses at the University of Sao Paulo (USP). Later, he returned to Madrid, Spain where he completed the full orthodontic specialty as a resident at the Jiménez Díaz Foundation University Hospital (FJD) in Madrid. During this period he also completed a master's degree in clinical research at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid. At the end of 2015 he decided to move to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the United States, to obtain his international doctorate. He remained there for two years and currently works as an orthodontist exclusively in his private practice in Madrid and is an active member of the research team in the Division of Craniofacial Growth and Development. He is appointed as a Professor at the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Duesseldorf. Dr. Eric Liou is an associate professor in the Graduate Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Science of Chang Gung University, & DentWay International Dental Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. Severe malocclusions with skeletal element remains a challenge to the current orthodontic specialty. Severe Class II jaw discrepancy, on the other hand, is mostly due to  overgrowth of the maxilla and backward translation of the mandible, manifested by prognathic facial profile and malocclusion with increased overjet and overbite and deep curve of Spee. One of the most important treatment modalities correcting this particular anomaly is to forward reposition the mandible, leading to not only regional adaptive remodeling of TMJ to support the new position of the mandible, but also restoration of Class I intercuspal occlusion. 

The specially designed and customized manufactured clear orthopedic appliances, including S8-SGTB and S8-SGHB, are used to relocate the backward positioned mandible, to modify the growth patterns of the oraofacial bone structures, and to correct malpositioned teeth concomitantly, therefore to correct Class II jaw discrepancies efficiently and effectively. Aided by advanced digitalization and algorithm technology, clear S8 manipulates lower jaw relocation and teeth movement predictably, accurately and precisely.

The clinical procedure and protocol of clear S8 consist of two phases: phase I is to relocate the mandible forward, and to manipulate the malpostioned teeth simultaneously, including crowding relief, frontal teeth retraction and deep curve of Spee flattening. Phase II emphasizes on dentitional detailing, including elaboration on  buccal segment intercuspation and anteriors interdigitation.

In Class II malocclusions with mandibular retrution, both the morphology and the size of the lower jaw are favorably normal, and therefore there is no need to gain extra growth to increase the overall mandibular size. What we need is TMJ regional remodeling to secure the mandibular new location, other than to increase its growth rate and the size. That is, the adaptive response of TMJ to S8 therapy, namely, the new bone formation in both the condyle and the glenoid fossa, together with relocation of the disc, is to restore the integrity of TMJ components, making the mandibular forward relocation sustainable. 

The adaptive rehabilitation of TMJ remains active for life long, from childhood and adolescence with pubertal growth spurt,  to adults without any growth potential, indicating mandibular repositioning therapy by S8 in adults is still effective. Furthermore, the radiographic evidence in adults are much more prominent than in adolescents, showing significant new bone apposition on the top of the condyle in response to S8 therapy.

In addition to S8-SGTB, S8-SGHB demonstrates promising efficacy in treating malocclusions concurring with TMD, due to its effects in provoking adaptive remodeling of TMJ  in response to mandibular repositioning, resulting in symptom relief of TMD, regenerative repair of degraded condyles and partial restoration of displaced disc.

This lecture will also report on a new classification system for malocclusions with facial prognathism and convexity. There are two fundamental categories including facial convexity with maxillary dento-alviolar overgrowth origin and skeletal overgrowth origin. Resulting from these two basic forms and coupled with mandibular backward retrusion, other three categories are further divided, including mandibular retrusion with maxillary dento-alveolar origin, mandibular retrusion with maxillary moderate over growth (skeletal subtype I), and mandibular retrusion with maxillary severe over growth (skeletal subtype II).

This lecture consists of three sections. Section 1 describes the new classification system for malocclusions with facial prognathism and convexity. Section 2 elaborates on clinical application of S8-SGTB in correcting malocclusions with mandibular backward retrusion. Section 3 reveals the efficacy of S8-SGHB intervention to mandibular retrusion caused by pathological degradation of TMJ. The whole lecture will also present an overview on the latest advances in clinical orthodontics evidenced by a wealth of literature review and beautifully finished cases.

Dr. Khaled is an Egyptian orthodontist, professor, and founder of the Orthodontics Department at Pharos University in Alexandria. is an Egyptian citizen, born on April 19, 1975. He is currently the head of the Orthodontics Department,. Dr. Khaled He holds various leadership positions in orthodontic organisations, he serves as the Africa and Middle East Representative on the executive committee of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) for 2020–2025. He is also a Board Member of the Egyptian Orthodontic Society (2011– present), Secretary General of the Arab Orthodontic Society (2012– present), Ambassador of the American Association of Orthodontists (2016–present), and a MOIP Ambassador. Dr. Khaled has a strong academic background with a PhD in orthodontics and numerous publications to his credit, he is also co-author of Passive Self-Ligation from A-Z published by Quintessence. He has been an invited speaker at more than 30 orthodontic events worldwide. Outside the university, Dr. Khaled owns the Aboulazm Orthodontic Clinic, founded by his late father, Prof. Dr. Samir Aboulazm, in 1975. He is also an Orthodontic Consultant at Mostafa Kamel Military Hospital.

Dr. Bouserhal earned his DDS degree from Saint-Joseph University. Followed by a Diploma of specialist in Dentofacial orthopedics from the university of Louvain, Belgium, a Continuing Education Diploma in Orthodontics from the University of Southern-California, a Diploma of Specialist in Lingual Orthodontics from the University of Paris VII and a Diploma in Dental Clinical Research from the University of Toulouse. He was visiting professor at the Universities of Paris VII, Toulouse, Thessaloniki, Monastir and Rabat. Dr. Joseph Bouserhal is a Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Saint-Joseph University, Lebanon, and maintains a private orthodontic practice in Beirut and Kuwait City. His main interest is vertical dimension control, treatment of asymmetries, adult and interdisciplinary treatment, transverse dimension, mini-implants and 3D cephalometry.

Dr. Kapetanović earned his DDS from K.U. Leuven, Belgium then completed his Orthodontic specialization at Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands where he also completed his PhD. Dr. Aldin is an orthodontist and research supervisor specialized in Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Expansion (MARPE). His doctoral work led to the development of an enhanced version of the MARPE appliance, known as the Dutch Maxillary Expansion Device. Dr. Kapetanović combines his role as a research supervisor at Radboud University with his clinical work as an orthodontist in private practices in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Dr. Saied finished her DDS in Monastir, Tunisia. Then completed her residency program in Lyon, France. She also holds additional certifications in Medical Imaging and Management and Clinical Efficiency. She completed a Fellowship in Aligner USA and earned a Master in Finishing Pitts 21 in addition to a certificate in Aesthetic Orthodontics and TMJ Management in VISTA. She has been a member of the American Association of Orthodontics and the World Federation of Orthodontics. She served as the communication officer for the Syndicate of Orthodontists in private practice and is a member of the Tunisian Association of Research and Study in Orthodontics.

Dr. Chawshli earned his B.D.S. from Salahaddin University, followed by an M.Sc. in Orthodontics and a Ph.D. in Orthodontics from HMU. He is a Certified Incognito Practitioner and Certified DAMON System Practitioner. He is a Professor of Orthodontics at the College of Dentistry, Hawler Medical University (HMU) and he served as a Vice Dean College of dentistry/HMU. He is a member of editing board of Erbil Dental Journal, Iraqi Dental Association, Iraqi Orthodontic Society, Arab Orthodontic Society, world federation of orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, European Orthodontic Society and SIDO. Dr. Chawshli academic interests include the supervision and teaching of advanced orthodontic courses, specifically the Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), biomechanics, and aligners.

Dr. Gurgel is an Associate Professor at the Department of Speech Therapy, São Paulo State University (UNESP), where he has served for over 20 years. He is the author of the book MARPE: Expanding the Limits of Orthodontics, first published in 2019 and updated with a second edition in 2022, now available in four languages. Dr. Gurgel has published over 90 journal articles, focusing on mini-implants and orthodontic wires through both laboratory and clinical research.

Dr. Contardo graduated from the University of Trieste with a degree in Dentistry and further specialized in Orthodontics and Gnathology at the University of Cagliari. He is currently the Director of the Orthodontic Postgraduate Program at the University of Trieste. He is also an Associate Editor for the journal Progress in Orthodontics. Prof. Contardo teaches in various programs, including Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, and Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Ngan is the Branson-Maddrell Endowed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He holds a dental degree from Harvard University and specialized in Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, and Hospital Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Ngan is an Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong and a Guest Professor at Wuhan University. He is a member of the Angle East, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He was inducted as Fellow of the American College of Dentists, Fellow of the International College of Dentists and Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Maino has completed his MD, DDS at University of Padua, Italy, followed by post graduate training in Orthodontics at Boston University. He is a visiting Professor in Orthodontics at Ferrara University. Dr. Maino is the president of WIOA (World Implant Orthodontic Association) and a past president of SIDO, ASE, WIOC, AIdOr, ASIO, SITeBi. He is a lecturer in Orthodontics in Italy, Europe, USA, Asia and Australia. He is a Diplomate of European Board of Orthodontics and Diplomate of Italian Board of Orthodontics. He is maintaining a private practice in Orthodontics in Vicenza, Italy.

Dr. Tarraf finished his BDS at Cairo University followed by an orthodontic residency. He completed his MS degree in Orthodontics in Sydney. He recently completed a PhD on the application of skeletal anchorage in maxillary growth modification for growing children. He works in private practice in Chatswood, Sydney and is involved in research and teaching at the University of Sydney. He has a special interest in invisible orthodontic techniques such as lingual orthodontics and Invisalign. He is the past president of the Australian Society of Lingual Orthodontics. He is also the first and only Australian to become a Titular member of the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics and an Active member of the World Society of Lingual Orthodontics. Dr. Lateefa Alkharafi obtained her dental degree from Kuwait University, Faculty of Dentistry in 2009. She then completed a one-year research program in craniofacial genetics and stem cells in 2012 at the University of the Pacific, San Francisco, USA. In 2015, Dr. Alkharafi earned her Master of Science in Dentistry and a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. She became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2016. She then completed a fellowship in Craniofacial and Special Care Orthodontics at the University of California, San Francisco, 2021, and became an International Certificant of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2023. Her teaching experience includes lecturing and part-time faculty positions at Kuwait University, University of the Pacific, Boston University, and currently a full-time faculty member at the Kuwaiti Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Alkharafi was the recipient of multiple research grants and established Kuwait's first craniofacial anomalies registry, and currently the head of the cleft and Craniofacial Unit at Ministry of Health, Kuwait. Dr. Alkharafi clinical practice involves interceptive and conventional orthodontic treatment, clear aligner therapy, sleep apnea solutions, and complex treatment for patients with craniofacial differences.
